Articles and references about salt issues
The Salt Institute is dedicated to the proposition that sodium chloride offers mankind a vast array of benefits. Knowing how to obtain salt, deliver it to would-be users, and understanding how to take advantage of salt's myriad properties is relatively straightforward (though we are constantly seeking that elusive "14,001st use" of sodium chloride).
More difficult is sorting out the inevitable choices, some conflicting, that more than 6 billion humans make as they allocate resources on planet Earth. Imperfect knowledge of the impacts of methods of salt extraction or production and various salt uses, particularly with regard to human health and various environmental receptors, invites different conclusions about the "facts" and yields varying, sometimes conflicting, strategies on how best to take advantage of sodium chloride.
