The wonders of salt — beyond its knockout taste-enhancing abilities — came to light at a recent gathering of the Women-Who-Game. It all started with Nicci asking if anyone had a solution for cleaning the bottom of her sticky clothes iron before she gave it the toss.
"Salt," pipes up Jess. "Just put salt on a paper bag and run the iron over it. Voila — like new." (Heat to warm, unplug, then iron).
Showing off our skills as domestic goddesses — which doesn't actually include orderly homes — everyone piped in with some wonderful little use for the kitchen staple. By the time we were done, and with a bit of additional research, it became apparent that salt belongs at the top of the "near miraculous household products" list, along with baking soda and vinegar.
