Snowstorm heaps economic misery

Among the hundreds of stories about the difficulties encountered by DC-area snowfighters and the homes, families and businesses dependent on their success, is this reviewing the economic devastation of failed snowfighting. Unmentioned in this Washington Post story is Salt Institute-sponsored research by Global Insight, Inc. showing that widespread blizzard paralysis costs Virginia more than $200 million in lost wages, retail sales and tax revenues for every day roads remain snow-impacted.
