The Salt Institute is committed to promoting understanding of salt. It has sponsored or co-sponsored nine international salt symposia dating back to 1962. The proceedings for most of these seminal meetings are out of print, but the Salt Institute either holds the copyright or has obtained permission of the copyright holder to web-publish those that are no longer available from the publishers. These periodic global symposia cover the entire gamut of salt concerns from the geology of salt deposits to salt history, then on to salt production and its myriad uses.
