William Petroski of the Des Moines Register reports that Iowa motorists can rest assured that there will be plenty of salt available next winter’s required road maintenance.

“The Iowa Department of Transportation is already nearing capacity in its salt storage sheds. In Des Moines, road salt supplies are so abundant the public works department plans to increase the amount of salt spread on the city's streets during the approaching winter months.”
