Satin Named Technical Director of Salt Institute

Alexandria, VA (June 1)…An international technical marketing leader and former Head of the United Nation’s global agribusiness program has been appointed Director of Technical and Regulatory Affairs for the Salt Institute. Morton Satin replaces Susan Feldman who has retired.

A molecular biologist educated at Sir George Williams and Queen's universities in Canada, Satin recently served as Executive Director of the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association, a non-profit association of international agribusiness CEOs (representing >$600 billion in sales), academic leaders and senior government officials. From 1985- 2001, he directed the global agribusiness program of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy. Prior to joining the United Nations, Satin served as a senior technical executive in multinational private sector agribusinesses.

“Salt has 14,000 known uses, and it will be my job to provide information to help salt users and regulators make public policy decision on how to unlock those benefits,” said Satin.

“Morton brings to the Salt Institute a unique mixture of senior international experience from both the private and public sectors,” said Richard L. Hanneman, president of the Salt Institute. “As a creative and committed advisor on technical and regulatory issues in the food, agribusiness and environmental sectors, he will be instrumental in helping to make the Salt Institute more responsive to today’s national and global needs. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role.”

The Salt Institute is a global non-profit association of salt producers (manufacturers).
