Salt Institute announces Web-publication of Salt Symposia
Alexandria, VA (July 3)….Proceedings of five of the eight Salt Symposia conducted since 1962 are now available, free, on the Salt Institute’s website. These represent all the Symposia conducted in North America and include: the first four (1962, 1965, 1969, and 1973) and the Sixth (1983). All are out-of-print.
The documents include 491 articles on salt geology, geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics, rock mechanics, dry and solution mining techniques, sea salt production, worker safety and environmental considerations. The materials can be accessed online at http://www.saltinstitute.org/symposia.html.
“Even though some of these reports are old, they are valuable and relevant resource documents,” explained Salt Institute president Richard L. Hanneman. He thanked the Northern Ohio Geological Society for its permission for the Institute to Web-publish Symposia One through Four; the Institute holds the copyright for the Sixth.
