Sophisticated technology to manage winter roads

"Chipping Away" is the title of a cover story in the April issue of American City and County magazine authored by Salt Institute president Dick Hanneman (this will be the link; it's not online at this posting)

In the article, Hanneman explains how the new Federal Highway Administration MDSS (Maintenance Decision Support System), RWIS (Road Weather Information Systems) and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) combine to give snowfighters new tools to make science-based decisions for snowfighitng response.
